However, it acted like it was working, but then froze again at the 0% complete. It then siad that it was already downloaded but then wanted me to hit the button to install it - which I did. I again hit the button to downlod/install it. I clicked on the Spore icon again and the same Patch box came up. I actually had to hit the power button on the computer to get it unstuck. I clicked Yes and the patch downloaded, but when I tried to install it, my computer froze. Second, the patch screen popped up and recommended I install the patch. So, my first question is: How and which drivers do I update? But, now I have two new issues:įirst, when Spore first began to open, it flashed a box stating that I have older drivers that I should update however, it let me continue on and did not tell me how to do this, nor did it shut me down and say I couldn't continue. Even though I did initially disable the firewalls and it still didn't work, I forgot to disable them again after I opened the ports. Thank you so much for your advice!!! Closing the firewalls worked. Gabriel Storm says: Try looking in the Games folder. Gabriel Storm says: You could have just used the deviced manager in XP to do that. Gabriel Storm says: Make sure the game is okay'd to get past the firewall. Gabriel Storm says: As long as that computer meets the requirements that Spore requires, it should run with little or no problems I spent $80 between the game and the portforward program, and my son still can't play it. There is no icon, nor any program on my computer, for Spore. I spent $30 to get this portforwarding thing, entered the ports, updated the router, yet still I keep getting the same message.Īlthough we bought a new computer just so my son could have our old one for this game, I did try to install on my new PC that runs Vista. I called a few days later and spoke to another tech who told me that it was a port issue with my router and told me to go to to get it fixed (he emailed me the ports that Spore needs). Unfortunately, he just sent me a link to support and although I did see the Patches page, I could not find a single patch that said it was for Spore. ![]() He said that he would email me the patch and I could just click on it and it would install. The first time I was told that there is a patch that would fix it. Of course, my computer is online, so I can't figure out what is wrong. Please ensure that your computer is online and try again." It appeared to install fine however when we click on the Spore icon, I get this message "The game needs access to the internet in order to verify ownership of this game. ![]() I installed it on a PC that runs Windows XP. I purchased the Spore DVD new a few weeks ago for my son and he has been unable to play it. ![]()
